Training

The following are optional available training classes. The Del Norte Gun Club encourages members to take these classes and the club will pay for the materials for these classes. The student will have to pay any applicable NRA fees. All the club asks for in return is that each person taking a class participate in helping teach four classes as assistant instructors in a period of eighteen months. See Training Sign-Up below.

NRA's FIRST STEPS Program

An Integral Part of Del Norte Gun Club Membership Orientation

FIRST (Firearm Instruction, Responsibility and Safety Training) STEPS is the latest addition to the NRA's training programs for new shooters. It provides hands-on orientation to one specific rifle, pistol or shotgun model in as little as three hours, including a one-hour shooting session on a range.

Please note that New Member Orientation classes may also be taken by Non-Members. Read the Membership FAQ for frequently asked questions regarding membership. See the Calendar for a complete list of training and events.

Training Dates

The following courses are also offered periodically by the club (details subject to change):

	American Heart Association First Aid and CPR Class
	Range Safety Officer Course
	Women's Introductory Handgun Class

Range Safety Officer (RSO) Training

Held at the Del Norte Gun Club Recreational Shooting Facility starting at 9 AM. The class lasts all day so bring a lunch with you. The cost is $25. Bring a check for $25 made out to "NRA." Passing this course means that you will be a certified NRA Range Safety Officer. The Del Norte Gun Club will provide everything else required to take the course.
