October 22 was a perfect fall day for the first DNGC Bowling Pin pistol
shoot. Temperature started in the upper 40's and climbed to around 70,
bright and sunny. About 20 shooters showed up to shoot in 4 classes:
22 rimfire, .38/9mm, .40/.357, and .41-.45. A special class was also set
up for single action revolver shooters. Five regulation bowling pins were
set up on a special table, and each shooter got four runs at knocking the pins
off the table. His/her worst run was discarded for scoring purposes.
Don Sherwood and Bill Last gave a safety and procedures briefing and shooting
started around 9:30. As the day ended around 1:30 all agreed that "We
need to do this again!"
Thanks to Don Sherwood for his work organizing and to Bill Last for serving
as RSO. And a special thanks to the members who ran back and forth so many
times to reset the pins!
