Friends of the NRA Banquets for Remainder of 2006 Continued from Home page. The Friends of NRA is a grassroots fund-raising program of the NRA Foundation that fosters community involvement, raises money, and gives 100% of the net proceeds to shooting sports programs. To these ends, Friends of NRA Committees are formed to produce Banquets where merchandise is offered in Live Auctions, Silent Auctions and various Raffles and Games. Among the items offered are exclusive, limited edition firearms, artwork, collectibles, as well as hunting and outdoor equipment and accessories and merchandise donated by local businesses and community members. Half the net proceeds support programs in the state in which the monies were raised; the other half supports programs on the national level. Friends of NRA volunteers are appointed to a state fund committee to make recommendations for local grant funding. New Mexico currently holds some 14 Banquets with new locations hosting events each year. For information regarding cities and dates please refer to this Newsletter or the NRA web site at www.nra.org.
